Mr. David Gonzalez
David Gonzalez was born and raised in Miami, Florida and is a product of Miami Dade County Public Schools having attended Citrus Grove Elementary, Citrus Grove Middle and Miami Sr. High School.
He graduated High School in 2009 and went on to study Music Education at Miami Dade College. While at MDC, he played in the Jazz Big Band and Jazz Combo under professor Matthew Bonelli and studied Jazz Saxophone with Tom McCormick. He received his Associate in Arts Degree in 2011 and moved on to Florida International University where he received a Bachelor in Arts degree for Music Education in 2016. While at FIU, he studied Classical Saxophone with Carlos Averhoff and was a part of the Studio Jazz Big Band, under the direction of Jim Hacker, and the Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Brenton Alston. Shorty after graduating, Mr. Gonzalez was hired as Director of Bands and Choir at Arvida Middle School where he teaches Band, Choir and Keyboard. Mr. Gonzalez strives for excellence, consistency and high student achievement. Our Jazz Band and Concert Band both participate in the annual FBA Music Performance Assessment and various competitions. Our Jazz Band received their first ever Straight Superior in Arvida Middle School history in 2018. 2020 marked was a landmark year because both Jazz and Concert Bands received Straight Superiors during the same school year for the first time in school history. Both Bands went on to perform and receive top honors at the OrlandoFest Competition in Orlando Florida. Mr. Gonzalez is committed to his lovely and supportive wife, Melissa, and enjoys watching sports (mostly soccer) in his time off. |
