Q: There are many things I want to do in Middle School. How can I be in Band and all those other activities?
A: Band kids are INVOLVED KIDS! We encourage our students to participate in a variety of activities. We have many students who participate in Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer and other sports. Being well rounded and experiencing different activities is part of the Middle School experience. Conflicts between spots, other fine arts classes and our magnet academies rarely arise.

Q: How do you decide what instrument each student plays?
A: During the first few weeks of school, students are exposed to all instruments by watching videos, live performances and listening to recordings. Students will then get the opportunity to try all instruments in our "Instrument Fitting Day". They will then come up with their top 3 choices and Mr. Gonzalez will assign the instrument. Almost all students get their first choice!

Q: How much work is involved in being in Band?
A: Band requires you to put in effort. We ask that all band students practice 4-5 times per week for about 15 minutes per session. If you keep up with that, you'll be playing like a pro in no time!
